BOISE — Plenty of home games early and a tough finish highlight the 2019 Boise State football schedule released Monday by the Mountain West Conference. It’ll be great if they could get a Texas A&M or Stanford too. It will also be great if BSU can get one more Chik-Fil A Kick-Off game vs another good SEC team, perhaps Florida in maybe 2017 or 2018. Boise State hits the road following the bye to play at San Jose State on Nov. 2 before the final two home games against Wyoming (Nov. 9) and New Mexico (Nov. 16). The Broncos finish the season with road games at Utah State (Nov. 23) and at Colorado State (Nov. 30). Boise State now has three non-conference games scheduled for both the 2019 and 2020 seasons, and they are the same three opponents.
The bottom half of the MWC provides plenty of soft opponents, they need as much quality in their OOC schedule as they can get. Boise State is 1-1 against the ACC after falling to Boston College in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl and then defeating Virginia Tech in 2010. Florida State is 1-4 against the MWC , but haven’t played a current member from that conference since 1977. The preseason poll was released at the Mountain West media days on July 23, 2019. The Broncos were predicted to finish in first place in the MW Mountain Division. The Broncos must replace quarterback Brett Rypien, running back Alexander Mattison and receivers Sean Modster and A.J. After the first of two bye weeks, the Broncos will travel to play at UNLV on Oct 5 before hosting Hawaii on Oct. 12. The Broncos will then travel to BYU on Oct. 19 before enjoying the second bye week on Oct. 26. I grew up in Montlake, pretty much in the shadow of Husky Stadium.

Getting Fla State on the schedule is a coup for Boise. “We are very excited to add Boise State to our future football schedule,” said Florida State Director of Athletics Randy Spetman. “Boise State has an excellent football program and we feel this will be an out of conference game that will be exciting for fans of both schools and appealing to TV networks. It’ll be nice to schedule now a Big XII team willing to do a home and home with the first stop being in Boise. Im a little disappointed in the 2015 game vs Idaho State, but I guess BSU had it really hard to find some good team to travel to Boise in 2015 and then BSU return the trip a few years down the road. Cincinnati now has three non-conference games set for 2019 and four in 2020. In 2019, the Bearcats are slated to travel to Ohio State, Miami , and Boise State. Boise State will host the first game of the series at Bronco Stadium on Sept. 21, 2019.
This year, the extra bye week means the Broncos won’t play longer than five consecutive weeks in the regular season. The season opener at Florida State in Jacksonville on Saturday, August 31, was already announced by the ACC a few weeks ago. The Broncos will then play three straight weeks at home against Marshall (Sept. 7), Portland State (Sept. 14) and Air Force (Sept. 21). This is all well and good for Boise, but it would be nice if they could get a decent nationally rated team to come to Boise before 2020-that is 7 1/2 years from now.
Scheduling Eastern Washington, Idaho State Hawaii, Georgia State and Montana is now way to build a resume. I hope the new stadium lights a spark and gets UW out of the circle of mediocrity. The lord only knows how painful it has been to watch the hated Ducks thrash us for the past 9 years. This is the second future home-and-home series that Boise State has scheduled against an ACC team.

This was the first time since joining the Mountain West in 2011 that they went undefeated in conference play.
Boise State played three of the final four games at home in 2018, so the reversal is somewhat deserved. The road game at Utah State could very well decide the winner of the Mountain Division just like the one in Boise to end the regular season did in 2018. Don’t know how good BSU and FSU will be in six years, but any time teams in the top 10 schedule each other, it’s a good thing. Should this series be played, it could end up being one of Boise State’s most challenging non-conference opponents.
In 2019, the Broncos visit Florida State and BYU and host Cincinnati, while in 2020 they host Florida State and BYU and travel to Cincinnati. There’s a run of three road games in four dates in the middle of the season, but none of then are divisional games, and there’s a week off before it and right before November. The Broncos get to play one of the most interesting games of the Mountain West non-conference season, going to Jacksonville to face Florida State. Marshall is a nasty game, but at least that’s at home along with the follow up against Portland State. Going to BYU won’t be easy in the middle of the season. The addition of Cincinnati gives the Broncos another challenge on their future non-conference slate. In addition to BYU and Florida State, Boise State also has home-and-home series set against Connecticut, Michigan State, Virginia, and Washington State. There’s a massive break by not facing Fresno State or San Diego State from the West. It doesn’t get a whole lot more favorable than facing UNLV and San Jose State on the road and playing Hawaii at home.
FSU also visits in-state rival Florida in 2019 and then hosts the Gators in 2020. First of All, BSU did an excellent job to beat several big boys in the past. Secondly, BSU have tried to get into PAC 12 and Big 12 but they won’t allow them for some reason. Now not anymore the big boys have easy job because the format was written by founder of BCS. It is kinda sad because there are many good footbal players to make the pro.
They have been changed many different directions because of Probation and joined in new conference due to 4 team playoff format. Other thing every year the poll had been given to SEC Conference teams in top 10 so that way they can able to win 7 straight National Championships. Boise State should have playing for National Championship instead of LSU vs Ohio State.
