BOISE — Plenty of home games early and a tough finish highlight the 2019 Boise State football schedule released Monday by the Mountain West Conference. It’ll be great if they could get a Texas A&M or Stanford too. It will also be great if BSU can get one more Chik-Fil A Kick-Off game vs another good SEC team, perhaps Florida in maybe 2017 or 2018. They represented the Mountain Division in the Mountain West Championship Game where they defeated Hawaii to become Mountain West champions for the fourth time. Last week, the Broncos announced a 2015 & 2017 series against the Virginia Cavaliers. Florida State will host the first game of the series at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Sept. 7, 2019. The second and final game of the series will take place at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho on Sept. 12, 2020. As far as 2019 and 2020 go, it looks like an impressive non-conference slate.

On Saturdays when I was a kid out in the yard raking leaves, I could hear the crowd cheering in the distance when the Dawgs did something good. The first game I went to, Sonny Sixkiller was their quarterback. My little Brother was fishing at the Cut the day the Dawgs got revenge on the Ducks 66-0, he came home with a headache from the noise. I live in SoCal now, but I’ll be up there for the Boise game.

I have been Dawg season ticket holder since before you were born. Let’s face reality, the Huskies have had a losing record vs. the MWC for the past 10 years. The damage done by New weasel and Tyrone was devastating. Sark stablized the ship, but we need to competitive again.

If their OOC schedule is high quality, they can get good mileage by consistently dominating the conference. Hard to talk SEC teams into travelling to Boise when Bronco Stadium holds less than 35,000. But they need to fill their OOC schedule with big boys, as many SEC, B1G, ACC or Pac-12 teams as they can get on the schedule.

Oct. 19 at BYU

Over 20% of a green football field is covered in paint. I would prefer to see us back on national tv every week. I don’t think any of us realized how bad it would be without the weekly games on ESPN. That was a huge deal and we need to fix that quick, or go INDY and make a deal with ESPN like BYU. Using the free shuttle takes the hassle out of searching for stadium parking. Downtown Boise’s public parking garages offer safe, convenient fan parking.

Each of the Bronco's conference road games will air on CBS Sports Network. The meetings at UNLV, San Jose State and Utah State will all be on a Saturday. Times were not announced and some games could still move to Thursday or Friday for TV, but Monday’s announcement at least gives the order and the weekend for Boise State’s 2019 schedule.

It’ll be nice to schedule now a Big XII team willing to do a home and home with the first stop being in Boise. The preseason poll was released at the Mountain West media days on July 23, 2019. The Broncos were predicted to finish in first place in the MW Mountain Division. The Broncos must replace quarterback Brett Rypien, running back Alexander Mattison and receivers Sean Modster and A.J. After the first of two bye weeks, the Broncos will travel to play at UNLV on Oct 5 before hosting Hawaii on Oct. 12. The Broncos will then travel to BYU on Oct. 19 before enjoying the second bye week on Oct. 26. I grew up in Montlake, pretty much in the shadow of Husky Stadium.

Washington in 2015 and Virginia in 2017 are nice but both teams have been and continue irrelevant and are only a notch above Wyoming, Colorado State, New Mexico and the MWC weaklings.
